COMMERCIALS

After 10 years in the industry, I’ve been fortunate enough to work on an array of commercial campaigns.

Having trained specifically in this field in New York City, and spending years putting these techniques into practice, through auditioning and filming, I’ve now developed a training package that will give participants all they need to know to feel confident in the casting room and a pro on set.

We will look at what to expect in the room, how to be your authentic self, acting techniques, breaking down scripts, making choices quickly, the button, explore different types of copy, practice using improvisation, and much more…

THE IDENT

A 3 hour session dipping your toe into what to expect of a casting session, exploring some copy and getting up on your feet to practice some basic techniques.

THE 30 SECOND SPOT

A full day giving you the tools to deliver an engaging audition from the moment you step into the room. We’ll go from getting the breakdown, techniques for the audition, through to what expect on set. This session will include working with different types of commercial scripts on camera so you can see what the client sees!

THE AD CAMPAIGN

Over several weeks you will get the chance to really build your technical abilities on camera, working with and without dialogue, practice using props/the product, make committed choices, work on acting technique and much more.

By the end of this course, you will feel the confidence to go into any commercial casting and have fun. Which I’m told, is what it’s all about… Oh, and the buyout! If you don’t know what that is, you will by the last session!

Feel free to get in touch regarding the different packages on offer. If you’re interested in something more bespoke, I’m sure that can be accommodated.

IMPROVISATION

I also teach improvisation to adults and children, both amateur and those that have been on the circuit for some time. I’ve trained and performed improvisation in the UK, Europe and the States with The Upright Citizens Brigade and Monkey Toast. Now I play with two long form teams, but have had the joy of performing short form (think Who’s Line is it Anyway) on the NYC circuit and this is primarily what I teach. To know the difference between the two, wikipedia… or come to one of my classes!

I am now teaching both online and in person, taking note of social distancing and covid-19 measures. This is both for improv, acting and community groups as well as in schools.

TESTIMONIALS

Lisa is an incredible teacher and I have learnt so much from her.  As a Musical Theatre Performer transitioning into the world of TV and film I had lots to learn.  It is such a different discipline and Lisa guided me through this every step of the way.  She made me feel extremely confident and her knowledge of this world is truly second to none.  Along with this she is a very kind, genuine person making you feel in safe hands, especially when feeling vulnerable in the training process. I can’t recommend her enough!”

-Amy Whittle, Musical Theatre Performer

(Cats, Rodgers & Hammerstein Songbook, Beggars Opera)

“Lisa is exactly what I hope to find when casting an actor. She is the perfect blend of professional and creative (as this industry is an art form AND a business after all). She brings a lot to the table with a vast variety of skills and dedication to her craft, always bringing the full gamete of her abilities to every set! She also understands the politics and nuances on a production from the casting call to the film set. If only every actor was like her!”

-Jessica Robinson, Writer, Producer & Director

(RSA Films, Ratpac, FX USA and Australia)

“I have known Lisa for several years now and have been lucky to work with her on film and stage. She is a superb and generous actor with a wealth of commercials experience so when I have a commercial casting Lisa is my ‘go to’ for professional guidance with my preparation.”

-Lloyd Morris, Actor

(Mastercard, Citroën & Paddy Power)

“I have had the pleasure of working with Lisa on a handful of adverts now and I will ask to have her audition again in the future. Besides being a joy to work with, Lisa is an extremely talented actor and always fully prepared.”

On the Vauxhall Commercial we worked on together:

“Creating the spirit of the time through freeze frame scenarios was a challenge but Lisa gave us plenty to work with. This is down to her improv background.”

-Leif Johnson, Director

(Vauxhall, Legal & General, Black & Decker)
